Blackheath

The town of Blackheath is part of the greater City of the Blue Mountains, and is about a 2 hour drive away from Sydney, or 2hrs 15 mins by train (from Central).

Some of the greatest assets of the town are its spectacular surroundings and accessable, well maintained nature tracks.

Population stands at approximately 4000, and is an interesting mix of "born and breds" and "blow-ins", mainly from Sydney. A popular weekend break-away destination, Blackheath's many B&B's, motels, and holiday homes are usually well-filled, especially during the winter months. Periodic snowfalls and open wood fires heighten the allure.

The flower of choice is the Rhodondendron, as is celebrated every first Saturday of November with the Rhodondendron festival.
Like springtime, autumn is a very colourful time in Blackheath. The temperate climate makes the Blue Mountains ideal for all kinds of European trees and plants to thrive, resulting in spectecular autumn clours as the winter draws near.

Blackheath Station
Blackheath has all the basic shops, as well as an abundance of café's, and 2 pubs. The (free) swimming pool is set in a lovely park which boasts a barbeque area and children's playground.
